As you are approaching town, GPS will want you to turn on 2nd st. It is a dead end and there are signs that say that. Do not turn on 2nd street or 1st street as GPS may instruct you to. Just stay on and it will bring you into La Veta. You will stay on that road until you come to Main St. From there you will turn left and go approximately 3 blocks to 2nd street where you will turn left and come into the park. The owner even drove the DH into town to pick up our rental car. The animals wondering through are amazing to watch and the babbling creek flowing right behind most of the sites is so relaxing. The creek flowing behind the sites and the San Juan mountains in front was a sight to relax in I wish we could have stayed longer than a week.

Our preferences are for places where the sites are spacious, the views interesting, the facilities clean and adequate, with friendly and professional management.

There are no electric, water or sewer hookups at any camp sites in the National Park. Full hookups are available at nearby commercial RV Parks and Campgrounds. Campground stays are limited to seven nights June – September and 14 nights at the year-round campgrounds the rest of the year.

The park is nicely landscaped, has spacious sites and features scenic views of the sandstone bluffs which are the namesake of the town of Bluff. The campground was clean, well maintained and the campground owner, Nancy, was friendly and helpful. The campground was nicely landscaped and had spacious sites and grounds. Proximity to the San Juan River and recent heavy rains contributed to a larger population of mosquitoes in the area which were a nuisance in the evenings.

California State Parks Campgrounds Dogs are allowed in California State Parks campgrounds, but must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet and in a tent or enclosed vehicle at night. Pets are not permitted in park buildings, on trails, or on most beaches. Angeles National Forest Campgrounds Campsites are first come, first served with a maximum day stay at a site, and a total of 30 days stay per year in this Forest. The Angeles National Forest offer group campgrounds on all three of the ranger districts, some accommodating up to campers.
